SHIWAN CERAMICS

Shiwan (Shek Wan), a town in Foshan, Southern China, has been known for its richly glazed stoneware for over 500 years. Unlike imperial porcelain, Shiwan ceramics grew out of local needs and popular taste—made for homes, temples, and streets rather than royal courts. This gives the ware its distinct character: bold shapes, earthy textures, and vibrant glazes that reflect everyday life and regional stories.
The range spans from practical vessels to large roof ornaments and polychrome figurines based on folk legends—objects that once lived among people and continue to carry that spirit today.
We proudly feature works by Zhanquan He (何湛泉), a renowned Cantonese potter and founder of Chrysanthemum Pottery. His studio keeps these traditions alive through both contemporary pieces and major heritage restoration projects across Guangdong and Hong Kong.
